Agreeing to these terms

These terms cover your use of this website and any concrete and masonry work C&D Santa Barbara Concrete & Masonry does for you. By using the site, asking for a quote or booking work with us, you agree to them.

Everything from our home page onward is offered under these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the site, and feel free to ask us about anything here before you decide.

What we do

C&D Santa Barbara Concrete & Masonry is a masonry contractor based in Santa Barbara, CA. We work on homes in Santa Barbara and the cities around it, including foundation, chimney, brick, stone, block wall, paver, walkway and outdoor kitchen work. You can read more about our crew on our about page.

Service descriptions on this site are general. The scope of your job is what's written in your estimate or contract, and if that document differs from anything on the site, the document controls.

Estimates and pricing

Quotes are free, given on site, and come with no obligation to hire us. An estimate is based on what we can see and measure during the visit, so it covers the work it describes and nothing more.

The price can change if we find conditions nobody could see before work started, such as cracked footings, hidden water damage or failed old repairs, or if you ask for changes once the job is underway. We'll explain the change and get your approval in writing before we do any extra work.

An estimate is good for the period written on it, because material prices move. After that, we may need to update it before we schedule the job.

Scheduling, site access and cancellation

We set a start date with you once you accept the estimate. Weather, material deliveries, inspections and site conditions can move that date, because rain and wet ground affect how concrete and mortar set, and we'll tell you as soon as we know about a change.

You agree to give our crew safe access to the work area, keep it reasonably clear, and tell us about anything you know of underground, such as utility lines, irrigation, drains or septic parts, plus where your property lines are.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, call us at (805) 456-2871 as early as you can. You keep any cancellation rights California law gives you, and your contract will explain those rights and any charges for materials already ordered or work already done.

Payment

Your estimate or contract sets the payment schedule, including any deposit and when the balance is due, and payment is due on those terms.

If a payment is late, we may pause work until it's made. Where the law allows, you're responsible for reasonable costs of collecting an overdue balance, and an unpaid balance may give us lien rights on the property under California law.

Warranties and what we don't promise

Any warranty on our work is the one written in your contract, and it covers only what that document says. Brick, stone, pavers, block and other materials carry their maker's warranty when they have one, and we pass those along to you.

Natural stone and brick vary in color and texture from piece to piece, and concrete and mortar can show fine hairline cracks as they cure and settle. Those are normal for the material and aren't defects unless your contract says otherwise.

We want you happy with the finished job, so if something looks wrong, tell us right away and we'll come out and look at it.

This website and its content are provided as is. We try to keep it accurate, but we don't promise it's complete, current or free of errors, and we aren't responsible for outside sites it links to.

Limits on our liability

To the extent California law allows, C&D Santa Barbara Concrete & Masonry isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost use of your property, that come from using this website or from our work. Our total liability for any claim about a job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job.

We're licensed and fully insured. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't let a contractor limit, including harm caused by our gross negligence or willful misconduct.

Resolving a disagreement

If there's a problem, talk to us first by calling (805) 456-2871 or writing through our contact page, because most issues get sorted out with a conversation at the job site.

If we can't settle it together, either of us can ask for mediation before going to court. Any claim that does go to court will be heard in Santa Barbara County, including small claims court where it applies.

Which state's law applies

These terms and any work we do for you are governed by the laws of the State of California.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time, and the version posted on this site applies from the day it's posted. A change won't affect a contract you've already signed with us, which stays on the terms it was signed under.
